The Sacred Monumental Area of Marmolada

At the intermediate station of Serauta of the Marmolada cable car (2950m.), the Monumental area of ​​Serauta welcomes guests who want to honor the fallen of the 1st World War.

In 1916 the Italians soldiers occupied Forcella Serauta building a fortress. here they lived from May 1916 to November 1917.

Today the caves and walkways have been made accessible and open to visitors. The machine gun position, the shelter, the cableway station, the infirmary are some of the points that can be crossed in the discovery of the monumental area.

During the summer, from June to September, this area can be visited in the cable car timetables, through two itineraries:

– The Monumental area at Punta Serauta, an Italian military fort: DURATION TIME: ca. 1 – 2 hours. DIFFICULTY: noun. Just use high mountain equipment

– Forcella VU – Quota 3065 – Punta Rocca:

The route is suitable for expert hikers; the use of helmet, harness, rope, carabiners, flashlight is recommended.
