PUNTA PENIA SKI MOUNTAINEERING

AWAITING UPDATES ON THE REVOCARTION OF THE GLACIER CLOSURE ORDER

Marmolada Punta Penia ski mountaineering ascent is one of the classical and more popular excursion of the whole UNESCO Dolomites.

The classical route starts at Fedaiadam parking lots and in about 1 hour arrives at Pian dei Fiacconi (the place where once an historical lifts used to be).

From here, the route continues on the right reaching the base of a snowy valley till a difficult mountainside, expecially with icy snow. Once arrived on the top, difference in altitude will be decreasing till the small mountain hut called Capanna Punta Penia.

Few meters separate this hut to the peak cross, at 3343 meters of altitude.

This peak is the highest of the Dolomites, from where you will appreciate an amazing view on the surrounding landscape: Sella Group, Sassolungo, Rosengarten, Pale di San Martino, Fanes Dolomites.

The downhill could be in the same way to go or inside the so called “Marmolada Canyon” paying attention while you are skiing close to Fedaia dam.
