Rocca Pietore area and Mount Marmolada, the queen of the Dolomites, are famous worldwide as alpine climbing paradise. Thank to this extreme sport, climbers have the chance to reach the highest mountain peaks through lots of mountaineering routes.
The Mount Marmolada south wall is called “silver wall”: a severe rock face with plenty of climbing routes to reach the two main peaks Punta Rocca and Punta Penia.
The Marmolada south wall is easy to reach along the Val Ombretta footpath starting from the village of Malga Ciapela. It’s not difficult to see some climbers on the wall also when you are hiking in this valley.
Alpine climbing is surely an èlite activity, reserved for whom who have a deep mountain knowledge, but fascinates everybody.
