The trails of the Alta Via 2 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitmarmolada.com\/en\/unesco-dolomites\/\">Dolomites<\/a> are mainly on rocky terrain, although there are also stretches of high-altitude meadows, pastures and woods. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The stage that crosses the Marmolada and towards Passo San Pellegrino can be tackled in different ways:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the original route includes a long crossing to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitmarmolada.com\/en\/places\/malga-ciapela\/\">Malga Ciapela<\/a>, then ascends to Forca Rossa and then downhill again to the Fuciade Refuge at San Pellegrino Pass. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">it is possible to move on the Marmolada glacier (passing through Pian dei Fiacconi) up to the Marmolada fork and from here descend to the Contrin Refuge or the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitmarmolada.com\/en\/activities\/our-mountain-huts\/\">Falier Refuge<\/a>.
